The Aprillia's are going to be the dominant bike in the CMRA this year. For some reason the bigger 600cc+ bikes don;t do so well in competition. The CRF 450 is a great platform for racing as well as the older Yami 426. Good luck.

Sure Buck, rub it in! I wanted to race this year but plans changed

I don't think he'll find a priller for 2K though.

I have a 450 dirt bike. Can I just swap wheels back and forth between motard and dirt or do I have to modify the suspension?

i dont think anything will be competitive for 2k. i think i should have clarified more. i want to make a street motard to have fun with and then get into racing it. i dont think a street and race bike should be the same.

Mark,
If you're going to be serious about it, the suspension will have to be tweaked, and geometry will have to be changed a bit as well.

That said, for street use or maybe the occasional track day use, I'd recommend just bolting the wheels on initially and just go.
See how the bike feels and then address any issues / shortcomings you may have at that point.

Depending on how much highway time it'll see, etiher the DRZ400SM or the DR650.

In all honesty, I'm thinking of selling my GSXR600 and getting a DRZ400SM to goof around on.
I just need to find someone with one that'll let me ride it a day or two so I can decide if that's the direction I want ot go in.

Let me know if you want to take the XR650L for a test drive. Remember, it's for sale

I'll let you borrow the priller for a day or two but it'll probably ruin you on getting the drz
