just wait , people are acting like they wont make more of these bikes, if your set on a color, just go to the dealer, setup a price and order you a bike in the color you want. you can do that, you dont have to wait for them to get stuff in. sit down and work a deal on one and get it on the way.

Debating on the colors.

Wait and decide which color you REALLY want. if you really want green, but settle for blue, you'll kick yourself everytime ya see a green one. . . . just like I said earlier. Weather will be crappy for a while(except Sunday) So it's not like it matters if you pick it up tomorrow or next week.

i think ur wrong for looking to buy a new first bike anyways. and I apologize i know others have said that already...

here are some cons:
1) Since you have never really rode the bike yet, you really dont know what *is* what you actualyl want. The only way to find out is to try something out... trying something new and expensive out seems likea waste. I'd get something used. Odds are you will need another bike soon

2) There bound to be little "mishaps" with a new rider. Don't get me wrong. If you are safe nothing bad should happen. but you may lay it down here and there... I forgot to put down the kickstand one time and just layed it down in the parking lot... it would be a pity to do with a brand new bike

3) least but not last: new bikes/cars drop in value the fastest...

Cheers,
Alex

it's a 250, it's new but not really expensive. He would spend a lot more on a older beat up 600. He's making a good choice going with a new 250.

I'm just curious but it sounds like it's your first bike...why not buy used?

Get a used 250 that's cheaper. You can put liability insurance on it because it's old. It's a 250 so you'll outgrow it sooner or later and won't take a hit on depreciation. It's your first bike so chances are you may drop it.

It's good that you're doing it the smart/safe way and starting small, but financially I don't get buying new.

A new 250 doesn't make sense unless it's something you plan on keeping for a good long time.

Buying a new one is just fine, if that's what he wants. Sure it'll drop in value, but not really ALL that much. Sure it makes more sense finacially to buy a used one, but so does buying a normal 32' TV instead of that 50" plasma.

The reason I wanted to get this bike new is because after I feel that im ready for a bigger bike (which im most likely not gonna do anytime soon), I still want to keep this bike. I really like the way the bike looks overall.

Its kinda like.. its my first bike.. a 250.. its not that expensive and I wouldn't mind holding on to it for a while even if I plan on upgrading.

No you noob you got your analogies all ,mixed up. With your analogy, you're comparing a 250cc vs. 600cc. What you needed to say was "but so does buying a used TV instead of a new TV".
Ugh...Pft.. Noob.

just kidding

It was more showing a willingness and want to buy something just because that's what one desires, as opposed to needs, wether or not it's the smartest decision financially.

Yours definatly makes sense too. . . I probably should have clarified.

How much are they asking, OTD price? Cause I've seen the old style for $2800 OTD.
