Input Needed: SV Track Bike?

I can see SV-650S bikes listed cheap for 03-07 models and even cheaper still for 99-02's.
Do these make good track bikes for people just looking to increase riding skill and learn to hang a little?
Is there enough adjustability in the suspension, engine power, etc to keep me in a learning curve for a while or do I need to go with Gixxer ,etc.

Not really looking to set records and run with Rossi.

I shaved over 25 seconds off my lap times at TWS (Texas World Speedway) last season riding a well setup 1st generation sv(not race prepped).

So yeah they make pretty good track bike.

get the newer version and get patrick to do the suspension. with just the front end built and race tires those things are capable of sub 2minute laptimes at TWS (Texas World Speedway)

The newer ones are prone to blow motors when taken on the track though....

Big time factory flaw in the crankshafts

That was only the East Coast 2003 models. They're all good after 2003, and not all the '03's are affected.

SV is IMHO the BEST bike to get on the track with. Tire and fuel costs alone are worth it. Not to mentions so many parts from the GSXR swap over to it.

Check out www.SVRider.com and you'll see what all the hubbub is about bub.

Yeah, you and several thousand others! Likely the most raced street bike out there for the "masses" I'd bet.
