I know exactly what you're going through. I had a "brother" and a cousin take their own lives. It's really hard to deal with. Every year, you think it gets easier, somethimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. If you need anything, you've got my number girl, dont hesitate to call.

3yrs ago TODAY my close cousin, father of 1, shot & killed himself. When I got there 5 mins later, & saw him like that, I cursed & hated him & couldn’t understand y he gave up on his kid, his family, his friends, me, himself! “Coward, pu$$y, hoe a$$ *****”…u name it I called it!

BUT, I kid u not, every year since, at about this same time, I get deceived by a friend or betrayed by someone I cared & trusted, & every year that these things happen 2 me it reminds me that although I DEPISE what he did….I now UNDERSTAND how events of life & nasty things we do 2 each other can make some of us cross that edge!

So every year instead of hating him, or letting the ugly things people do 2 me ALLOW me 2 hate MYSELF, I get this day 2 remind myself & all those around me…..Don’t EVER underestimate the power of the smile u give 2 a stranger, or that kind gesture 2 a friend, or extra 5 mins of convo u offer someone who needs an ear, cause that small gesture might be what that person needed that day, to help life seem a little more worth living. MORE IMPORTANTLY, don’t be so frivolous with ur own actions in life that u forget ur ability to affect those around u.

So every year I share this story that was sent to me by my pastor if u read none of this read the following!!!!!!!!

SPOONS:

A holy man was talking with the Lord one day and said,
"Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and are like."
The Lord led the holy man to 2 doors.

Behind the 1st door was a large round table.
In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly.
They were holding spoons with very long handles & each found it
possible to reach into the pot of stew & take a spoonful,
but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not
get the spoons back into their mouths.

The holy man shuddered at the sight and The Lord said, "You have seen ."

Behind the 2nd door, the room was exactly the same.
Same large round table, same large pot of stew.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons,
but here the people were well nourished & plump, laughing and talking.

The holy man said, "I don't understand."
"It is simple," said the Lord; "it requires but one skill. You see,
they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves."

Do not value the "things" you have in your life - value "who" you have in your life....

Love u all and we should ALL take the time 2 be a little more HUMAN 2 one another!!!

Ya Girl Candy!

REST IN PEACE COUSY!

you know i always listen to ppl talk awfull things about a person that commited suicide.

but i always tell them. you never know what happened to that person before he took his own life.

i always ask them this

if you see a person that wanna jump from a bridge whats the first thing you do?

try to save him, which is great, but. no one ever think that after you saved him, his life will be the same\

so you saved his life but didnt do nothing to help him

so it was just temporarily

i always say, if you really wanna help someone go beyond that,

sometimes listening to that person helps a lot, sometimes more is needed

but sometimes the majority of ppl dont take the extra time or the extra effort to do that

sometimes i say it in a mean way which is wrong i know but

i always say, if you save his life and dont help him afterwards

just let him jump, because you didnt save his life anyway

he wanted to commit suicide for a reason

and no one cares what that reason was.

there are different levels of depression and different levels of character

we all are different we never know

Then the moral 2 the story is we should reach out and not only stop him from jumping but continue 2 extend our love and support for that person until we've done everything in our power to bring them from sadness.

Majority of all suicides are really a final plea for attention or what the victim feels is a relief from their pain, and grant it we can't stop someone whose made up their mind, but if their on the ropes of life/death and our kind word or smile can lean em more towards life.....it's our DUTY as human beings 2 give them that help to give em strength 2 fight another day.

FEED EACH OTHER, RATHER THAN STARVE URSELF, thats the moral 2 spoons

Great post and great read, thank you.

I'm at a point in my life that I'm not happy about, that's a long story for another day. But things like this remind me why I get up in the morning and fight.

I've been in the situation where I've wanted to take my own life, it's very hard to break free of that mindset and it's even harder when you don't want to. What alot of people don't understand is, sometimes you need that net of friends/family to just listen to you.

I think that your friend was very lucky to have someone like you in their life who was hurt by what you did that she will tell those she cares about to not make the same decisions.

Something I learned was that taking your own life affects those around you as much as it does yourself. You would think that's pretty common knowledge but it hit me just as I was getting over the hump the first time.

I think most people r 2 pu$$y 2 even admit they have been in the same position my cousin was in.

I KNOW I HAVE BEEN IN HIS POSITION lately more than ever. But by the grace of I guess, just when i'm at my boiling point, someone like Brena will ask me out 2 dinner or someone like Teresa will have such great things 2 say about me that make me forget about what i was tripping on in the 1st place, and then I have 2 say 2 myself tomorrow is another day.

I've got 2 find another piece of strength, or i risk having at least 1 unfortunate person who really cared about me feel the way i feel everytime I think about my cousin, lost and incomplete cause they feel they coulda done more. i don't want anyone that cares for me 2 EVER FEEL THAT WAY.

The key 2 me finding that strength r those whispers from the GOOD people around me, who appreciate and love me enough to extend that smile or encouragement when i need it! We should be that breathe of fresh air for EVERYONE!!! Cause just when u feel ur life is t, someone elses is ttier, and they need u 2 put ur gun down and lift them up instead!!
