Is that manufactor or your dyno reading? Just can't imagine a 600 having around 140 @ the crank.

Manufacturer... it may be a little less. It will still get you to 170 indicated extremely fast. As will any 600 now days.

if you want the fastest 600 for the track....i'd have to say gsxr600, or 636....not the new zx6r's. next choice is 07+ 600rr's.

This is true! My 04 GSXR had a lot more mid range than the 04 RR! I had a lot more pull coming out of the corners! I don notice it as much on the 07 RR! It has way more mid range than the 04 RR did!

A Vmax dynoed at 104HP 75TQ?

Was that on a Mustang dyno? That's freaking low. The weakest Vmax I've ever seen on a dyno was a 01 with Cobra slash cut pipes that tend to rob about 8-10 hp, stock no jetting and it made 108/81. My 91 all stock makes 114/85 SAE corrected. Something's up with that!!!

06 R6 is right at home on the track. It really lets you know when you do things right the thing honks but if you get caught in the wrong gear comming out of a corner your lap time is going to show it. The bike handles well just make sure you keep your revs way up.

and yamaha claims 127 hp at the crank and you can usually expect to see 105 to 110hp at the rear wheel when dynoed.

Whats your level of riding?
What distances would you go on the street?
600cc inline fours will haul but they take some skill to do that.
They are light and short so they turn great on a smooth track but can be a handful on a rough road.
I agree with some of the others sit on them all find one that fits you. Don't buy one cause its cool find a bike you can ride and enjoy.
Come home soon!!

here's my .02 I just recently purchased an R6 but I've ridden Suzuki, Honda, and Kawasakis' 600s. They all felt pretty equal but I did find that the CBR was more comfortable for me to ride (R6 was second). I'm not much of a racer or even a stunter, mainly to just cruise and enjoy life on 2 wheels instead of 4.

Main point, not too much difference between the models if you don't have any future plans to do something else with it so go with what your preference is, whether it be looks/ brand name, etc (or in ur case, good deals)

The Yamaha is a hot looking bike but not very comfortable in my opion. The '03 to '05 or the R6S is way more comfortable. To me anyway.
Kawasaki quit making the 636 and I wanted to buy new.

I bought a '07 Gixxer as the next most comfortable bike.
I love the out of it!! It rocks. It is completely stock now and I don't know if I am going to put any parts on it yet but I am listed on the dyno run as number 13 from POPO earlier.
It only made 40 lbs/ft of torque, but you need to see the curve to understand how you get most of that from about 6000 RPM on. I would recommend this bike if your a bigger guy or just like to roll it on and play with speed on the freeway.

Just my $0.02
