Our Members in the Military.

What would it take to find out all of our members that are serving in Iraq and Afghanstan. and get some care packages together for them.. We could collect food stuffs.. treats, beef jerkey, soaps, koolaid, chips, bean dip, even a copy of Sport Rider etc, what ever it would take to make up some good little care packages and find out their addresses and send to them... We could collect these things at meet and greets.. and maybe some of the motorcycle shops that would participate. Then a little fund for postage to send to them.. what cha think... post up with your ideas... I know from years ago. getting a little package with some stuff from the states went along way in how i felt.. I dont mean everyone in the 5th army, just some of our members thanks guys...

Feel free to throw in cheap stuff for kids, we see tons on our patrols and it always is nice hand them out. You'd be surprised what some dollar store toys do to lift the spirits of the kids here.

Only regs I know of that are prohibited are:

Weapons
Alcohol
Illicit Drugs
, Maxim OK, Playboy NO-GO

Other than that its pretty much fair game. Any type of food is good, specifically, stuff that can be eaten on the run, tuna packs, pre-cooked chicken , etc. Just think of it like this 80% of the people that are out here are usually on convoys, or patrols, so portable, easy to pack, stuff to munch on is great. Drink mixes, especially hot coco (its winter and its in the 30's) is always a hit too.

Sometimes talking to a USO or local FRG (Family Readiness Group) can point you in the right direction. The Armory off of Westhiemer might have some contacts. I'll look up the number and post it here.

does it cost the same to send to a military address as a US address, or is the cost higher because it is in Iraq.
