just FYI... dodges get the WORST fuel mileage out there. their minivans have the worst rating in their class the trucks do too. I had a dodge durango and I loved it.... but I could not afford to drive it. It had a 360cid and I averaged 13 mpg.

I have an '04 crew cab Z71. Used to get 16.5mpg, and now I'm avg 14.5 unless I add a fuel additive, then I get my old mileage. Go pay to get your injectors clean thats what mine needs. That and make sure your air filter is good. The only time mine gets less than 14 is if i'm pulling something. I got 12mpg pulling a 4x8 trailer loaded with furniture, plus the bed of the truck loaded. Got another buddy with your exact truck that gets close to 19mpg on the highway. Somethings wrong.

the new tundra w/ the aluminum engine is a horrible vehicle, many recalls... and forget about a decent tow vehicle.

honestly for the money the srt10 ram is ... way too much $$$ for aftermarket. honestly id tell him to get a regular chevy 1500 w/ the 6.0 iron motor... lotta aftermarket and you can get this truck into high 12's with ease... the aftermarket for the lsx chevy engines is insane... check out ls1tech.com

if you want good fuel mileage/dependabiblity and insane power... get a duramax or dodge 5.9 cummins diesel... w/ a couple key mods you can get a big 4x4 diesel to outrun the srt10 and still get close to 20mpg.

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.
I passed your thoughts/comments on to my pal who's up for buying one (with my encouragement of course ).
He's still infactuated with the SRT and like he says,
Sometimes you gotta let your heart rule your head .
At $9.50 a gallon of straight unleaded over here, that's blind love IMO, but hey, I can't wait to drive it !!

The ext. cab's are . The auto's suck, they fail missreably.

The single cabs with the T-56 six speed are a bit better. Pretty quick for heavy trucks. The styling is nice, thats about it.

Ok, here's the info... The SRT10 trucks are a of a lot of fun, in the regular cab version. they are very comparable to the viper in power because it is the same drivetrain, but they get real squirelly because of no weight in the bed. The quad cab version is only available with an auto transmission, which feels like it takes A LOT away from the power. If someone is looking for one, I'd only recomend the regular cab with the standard transmission and would say that they better be ready to spend A LOT in gas, but other than that they are fun as . I've driven both and love them...

Oh, and as far as reliability goes, Dodge has come a long way from what they used to be and I never saw many SRT10 trucks breaking down and I've worked on Dodges for the last 3 or 4 years. Anything from 03 and up is definitely MUCH improved on from the past, but their fuel economy is less than desirable in comparison.

DISCLAIMER: I am not partial to Dodge because I work for them, but they are a lot better than they used to be. I would also like one of the new tundras, though!
