the vrod engine has NOTHING to do with the Rotax engine in the new 1125R. the 1125R's powerplant is a completely new design. However, Rotax is also the designer of the Aprilia engines. But the design of the engine for the Buell is all new and to buell's specs. It shares nothing with any Harley powerplant.

i can't stand it. it's poorly built with cheap materials. the wiring on it looks like a 5 year old did it. the clipons, guages, and switches look even worse. definitely not worth 12k of my money.

Everybody has a sportbike. The Buell's offer something different.

I have ridden several and IMHO the motor is the bike problem, just when youthink it should come alive and start making serious power it runs out of breath.
I haven't ridden the new 1125R and I think it has real promise of being a good alternate to the Japs.

Hmm... nothing to dissuade me yet...

I guess I should've prefaced the post by stating that I'm not looking for a liter bike competitor. If I wanted a liter bike I would get a zx10. I don't need to go fast(er than 120), I still have my ZX7 if I want to do that. I'm looking for something unique and stylish, and I feel like this bike fits those requirements.

I was thinking about an SV1000s and some sort of ducati as well. I'm really into this VTwin thing now. Anyone be willing to let me ride their sv?

I would be willing to sell you my TL1000R. V-twin Powa!

I enjoy riding my Buell. It has substantially less power than many of the bikes I've ridden but it has plenty to enjoy. I do miss the power sometimes but I can't remember the last time I drag-raced my bike or needed to do 160+ on the street. It is a fun bike for around town and playing on the twisty bits.

i have the SPORT RIDER magazine in which the 1125 is featured. the first sentence ( i swear to ) in the article is "No more 'Potato, potato, potato'". hahahaha.

I personally love the style of the new model Buells. I will get one eventually. It's my 'dream' sport bike.

thanks for the good advice. I went down to Mancuso on Saturday and test drove a few buells. Only thing I can say is, that was fun. Power right off the idle, the front wheel came up a little in second gear with a hand full throttle. My ZX7 definitely cannot do that. The XB9R was fun, but the 1203cc motor had a lot more kick to it. I tried out the Lightnings too; nice relaxed position and sporty ride, really fun to ride.

The Buell guy at Mancuso central is a bad , he waited on me hand and foot and told me some wicked stories about dragging floorboards.

Long story short, I'm gonna do it. XB12r, here I come baby!

...now I just have to wait until they can get one.

and one more thing: i would get an 1125 (maybe) if I had 13 grand to blow, but I dont!
