How to install whistler cruisader radar/laser detector

Hi folks,

I have a question - I just got my whistler cruisader motorcycle radar that comes in several separate units. One of the units is radar/laser antenna and it needs to have unobstructed view of the road ahead. Will i compromise the structure of my windshield if I drill a 1" by 3# hole just above my headlight ?
And also how should I go about making the hole? Right now I am thinking melting through it with my soldering gun.

The pic of the front of my bike is attached (the bike has a front lightbar now):

Maybe there are better places to mount the antenna? If so, where?

Thanks!

It should be able to read through the windshield.
You can call whistler to verify, but I'm pretty sure that's accurate.
Let me know if you find out differently.

Thanks, Patrick, it reads the radar through the windshield but cant read the laser band. So i actually have an extra laser antena (smaller) designed for that case. But i'd prefer to mount the extra antena on the back, and have a hole for the one in front

well i dont know thats what manual says. maybe plexiglass is more opaque than the car windshield? The truth is i think it can. the beam just attenuates a lot more so the detection wont be as good

I have set out to install it this sat, along with the light bar.
