Wow, sounds great. I am tied down with family and we are not sure what we are doing for vacation this year or I would be up for it.

I hear all of these stories about people being robbed down there. What's your take on that?

sounds fun! Meaner and I planned to go late in the summer to my dad's place. He has a guest house, too, and less than an hour from the border.

Friend of mine just rode all the way to Guatemala and Belize over the Xmas holidays on his bike. He purposely purchased an old "beater" bike for cheap before the trip. He fixed it up to make it as reliable as possible while making it look as ugly as possible so people wouldn't want to steal it. The pics he sent made it clear that it was an AWESOME trip. He said he's already planning on doing it again this year. He went snorkeling on Xmas day off the Yucatan peninsula and went to see the ancient ruins in Guatemala as well.

thats the way to do it.. when i had a sailboat and was sailing.. never clean or wax your boat.. keep it dirty and unkept.. cuz if its shiny, new and clean and you pull in to a port, to get diesel or supplies. everything goes up.. even drinking water one dollar a gallon. and it wasn worth drinking...

Me and a friend are leaving in exactly a month to ride through Big Bend, to creel & Copper Canyon, then to Durango and Mazatlan. From there we're going to take the ferry over to the Baja peninsula and ride up through San Diego and end up in Vegas where we're shipping our bikes home.

We're doing this on KLR650 so we'll be enjoying the off road fun too.
