crashed and done before the season even started

Well over the weekend my son and I were our riding the motars that I had finally talked my wife into letting him run this year. Long story short he lowsides and when his foot hit the ground it pushed his leg back onto the bike. The rest is history. The crash pushed his bone into his knee causing the acl to pull away from the bone. He is going to have surgery at 2 today to correct everything.

Who wants to step into my shoes and take some beatings from my wife. She has not addressed this or really even talked to me about the crash YET...

Keep my son in your prayers please.

I guess I could use some as well (she may kill me)

Yes he had on full gear and like a true racer, the first thing he said was "did I scratch my helmet........ Dad I think I broke my knee!"

Thanks ya'll

Jerrel

Best wishes to your son.

First, tell her the sport is something you share with your son and brings you closer (true statement_

Second, start doing the chores she usually does without offering to do them. Keep this up for a month or two, but not longer than that, otherwise you'll be stuck for life.

Just started letting our kids ride. Wife and I looked at each other and came to the conclusion that accidents are a possibility and hopefully the kids won't get anything more than scrapes and bruises. He should make a full recovery.

I take enough beatting from my wife so sorry, your on your own.

Prayers go out to young son tough kid according to his statement. It is so weird we always worry about the helmet instead of head the reason we wear the helmet in the first place.

MSF? They offer it for kids, too!

My son has wrecked a lot, had one bike through the front window, daughter and niece have both had pretty bad spills, nephew is stunting and jumping ramps... they're going to get hurt. NONE of these compares to the injury my daughter sustained by sitting cross-legged in my backyard, though.

You did right with the gear, it's all you can do. Knees heal. Surgery sucks and I never wish it on any kid. I have no advice for the wife, though... never been an overprotective mother-type...:/:
