depends on the miles you have if over like 80k they will just send it ti auction so they most likely give you peanuts for it, and as for crazy mods like suspension and rims and sound system take that stuff out because they will only base it on kbb and quote you like 30 percent lower from there

do not sell your car to carmax unless you are very desperate. they are in the business of selling cars. The sell cars at a pretty good price and to do it, they give you peanuts. I brought my infiniti there with about 3000 miles on it. They said they start at "fair" condition and would give me 29K for it. I sold it for 32K a month later.

Not referring them but, if you do decide to go. Go to the one off 45S and Beltway 8 and talk to Tony Sandu (I think thats how you spell it) and tell him Carlos (the one who totaled the black 350z) sent you and he'll hook you the best he can.

not always, my best friend sold a 99 POS (mechanically, not cosmetically) Ford Escort to them last year...KBB was like 2700 in mint condition...he got 2500 and got rid of his and his wife's headache.

no car dealer will pay you for aftermarket audio equip...u would be better off selling it person to person....i had a 03 jaguar xtype with at least $4000 invested in audio and they didnt give me any extra on a trade in.....(not at carmax though)

they do sell cars at better prices than going to a used lot Chevy or Ford dealer, maybe not a used independent car lot and no haggling....almost priceless.

take out your stereo equip, you never get what it is worth.

carmax is not a bad place to go to see what they will offer. They will make you an easy offer that is good for a week. No headaches, title issues, etc. They sell there cars for expensive, and if it a car that is desireable to them they may give you okay money. (ie mid miles honda) Me personally i would never buy a car from carmax, but i have sold one to them.

A while ago I sold them a honda, they made me a great offer that i could not refuse.

I never said they were the best priced dealer...just better than going to a Big new car lot type dealership who sells used trade-ins....and yes, you may pay a little bit more...but to save on the BS haggling, it's worth it to some peeps.

and for the record...take your add-ons/upgrades out....that's like trying to sell a used car and asking 1500 more than KBB because you put rims, a new motor, tranny, etc.... that don't mean sh*t.

www.kbb.com has all the information about pricing (trade/wholesale, private party, dealer) for both cars and the motorcycles! Carmax used to be a kick- place when they just started like 7-8 years ago. Now its just like another dealership.

carmx isn't too bad. they offered me $500 more for my trade in than any of the other big dealerships. I could probably get more by selling to an individual. But if I didn't want to deal with that, then I 'd probably sell it there.

I will most likely buy from an individual. not really wanting to mess with selling it outright. It is a 02 f250 diesel 4 X 4 cewcab lariat bout 150K miles
