What would you recommend.....
Kawasaki, honda, suzuki, or yamaha?
Basically, pick your favorite color and go with it. All of these in the big 4 are comparable to each other in pretty much all aspects that most human beings will see. There are slight variations in posture and comfort, so figure out what you personally want.

As far as being bored...you can have a lot of fun on bikes well below 600cc. It's just a matter if you are willing to be different.

Good idea taking everyones advice. I bought a 636 as my first street bike(ridden dirt a while) and it's actually a bit too much IMO. I hardly ever even pin it in first, but I'll roll onto it pretty hard every now and then. I actually have no plans to buy a liter bike. It MAY happen in a few years, but as of right now, even after 16k miles I don't think I'm ready. Just because they make bigger bikes, does not mean in any way are 600's slow.

welcome to this site - I am a newbie here myself but i must say thhat there are a lot of nice folks here.

I googled for Awesome Cycles even before i knew anything about this board.
They had the most competitive prices and offered weekday discount (what I needed since i could easily take weekdays off). I was very happy with the instructors too.

A) Don't buy the bike until you take the MSF Course.

B) I'm with the rest. 1000cc is too big for a first bike.

C) Not sure where you got this info. They don't run MSF courses there. They sponsor us (www.awesomecycles.com) and if you want in a class this weekend, hurry up, only a couple of spots left.

D) Welcome to the board!

Welcome to the board....

A 600 is ALOT of fun, and Ive owned a 900 before...

Ive got a 600 and a 500 in the garage right now, and ride them both and ENJOY them both.

A 600 still has tons of power to get you into trouble (with the law OR the pavement)

my advice, get a used 600, try to pay cash ride it for a while, come out riding with us sometime... youll see mostly 600s because they are alot cheaper and still do everything you need to do and more.

1000's are plain MORE than anyone needs on a street. And they dont forgive your throttle mistakes liek lower cc bikes do.

Buy a 600, and a year or so down the road, if you just MUST have a 1000, trade it in, or sell it and buy another bike...
