what if he was a dead beat that didn't pay his part of rent. The whole, I'll pay you when my check comes in? They may have thought he was just passed out and were trying to get their money before he woke up? lol, I know, but its a thought.

Quite possible! They police did say they were astonished to learn he was dead! It was all a big misunderstanding
