Rain Gear

Im looking for a rain suit. I need it to be an oversuit that I take off and put away when off the bike. Im thinking a 2-piece is what I need.

New Enough has some on sale, but non in my size(large more than likely).

So, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on brand, style or where to find them.

Alipnestars makes a nice 2 piece rain suit.
I've had mine for a few years and it has served me well.

Seeing as is A*(nice brand) it might be out of my price range.
Can you get these? If so, would you mind PMing me a ballpark price.

Thanks Patrick, Ill keep my eyes peeled and Ill get back to you. The bike is going to be my only means on transportation this semester, so I figure I should invest in some good rain gear

I have a 2-pc, but ripped the pants and had to replace them with WalMart rain pants big enough to go over 3 layers of warmth + overpants. Try the suit on with your bulkiest riding gear to get the right fit.

Jacket: Make sure the collar is lined with fabric for comfort, it has elastic and/or velcro adjusters at the waist to keep the jacket from flapping, and it's long enough to cover your when in the riding position (keeps water from getting into the pants from the top).

Pants: Long enough that they don't ride up when you are in riding position, suspenders or adjustable waist to keep them in place, and WIDE open bottoms to get them on without removing your boots and then snap/velcro/zip up to keep water from splashing up in puddles.

You'll find that a good set of rain gear will keep you dry and add a layer of warmth when the wind chill starts to get you. If properly cared for, it should last at least 3-5 seasons, if not more. Well worth the $$.

I tried the Frog Toggs.... but for me, they ended up being more hassle than it was worth.
They still let in enough water to leave you wet at the end of a ride, along the seams (zipper in front, pocket holes in pants) and the edges. For me, rather than worrying about it, I just take an extra set of clothes in a plastic bag in my backpack if it looks like rain. That way I can change when I get where I'm going. I hate having to RELY on the wetsuit. :P
Oh, and I ride ALL the time in the rain.

Ive been meaning to write a follow-up to this thread.

Patrick scored me the A* 2 piece suit last week. I got to give it its first trial riding to school and work on tuesday and wednesday. The suit is great! Kept me dry(which equals warm)! When I have time, Im going to write up a review in the gear section.
Having only the bike right now to get to school and work, I have to ride rain or shine. This suit will definitely make my life MUCH easier!

Thanks Patrick!
