Anyone have experience with...?

Anyone have experience in having a bike/auto accident that was not their fault?

With my last incident, I'm faced with the bike needing repair & wanting to attempt to get my helmet and jacket replaced. When I reported it to my carrier, they asked if I wanted to place the claim with the other guys insurance or if i wanted to pay the deductable, have them fix the bike and then have them recover the $ from this insurance company.
I told them I want to get the bike in the shop and get an estimate before I make any decisions...

So begins my research.

I imagine the 'fastest' route to riding again is paying the deductible, then getting my ins carrier to go after his. Then, on my own attempt to get them (his ins co) to cover/pay to replace/repair the gear.

I'd recommend giving the insurance company of the person that hit you the opportunity to take care of the claim first.
Most times if it is clear cut their fault they will do the right thing with no delays.

Do you know who the other ins is? Like Patrick said, most times when fault is clearly on one side, the ins companies attempt to handle the claime as fast as possible. That being said, your ins company should be able to guide you through the process and fill you in if delays become overwhelming.
