Well, . Got knocked off the bike this weekend.

I'm not going into specific details - yet. Anyway, LEO who was too concerned with road tax assessment of another citizen came across my lane, apparently focused on the task at hand without noticing I was there. Needless to say, got the front wheel tagged and was offered to the pavement. I was wearing helmet, Kevlar reinforced gloves, mesh top and kevlar lined jeans but still suffered some decent injuries on one side. I rolled into a ball and reduced a lot of the potential drag injuries, however the jacket was pretty eaten through by the end of the trip. pig didn't lift a finger to help me at first, too busy with paperwork. Two witnesses helped me up and stayed around for the report.

I'm being general right now due to the sensitivity of the situation. Needless to say I'm not at all a happy camper right now... Never went down in the street since I was licensed in 1986. All these years of wearing gear paid off. Had I not been protected, I would have been 10x worse, likely still in the hospital.

sux that you met pavement. stuff happens, your accident was one out of couple hundred today. Pretty sure that he didn't see you. It takes three actions to make a safe lane change. Missing one of these will cause an accident.

1. Check Rear View Mirror
2. Check side mirrors
3. Physically turn your head and check to see if the lane is clear.

Sounds like he missed one of these steps. What damage / evidence was on the police car?

Glad to hear you made it out relatively okay MOP. Any litigation or insurance claims in the works with the police office?

glad your ok...that is jacked up man... bad enough he caused an accident but to not help you because a ticket was more important is jacked. I hope your filing a grievance at minimum.

Glad you're ok. Like Andre3k said, you were one of hundreds that occurred unfortunately, and many weren't as lucky as you by being able to walk away.

Curious though, did the PO just cut you off without signal, or did he have his lights on prior to moving over?

It's an incredible story...

Yeah, that's why I don't want to go into details at the moment.

Thanks everyone, be careful out there.
