Summary:

West bound on Rankin Rd, inside lane...

White car, with a silver/tan SUV behind it... 45mph.

Car turns left, sufficient time to turn. Suv starts turn... MIGHT have made it, If the car ahead of him had not stopped in the entrance. Would have been close...

I thought the guy was going to follow through and make the turn... wasn't sure if he just didn't see me or was being stupid.
Hit the breaks, trying to scrub as much speed as possible to reduce the impact, figuring I was going to broadside him. Stayed in my lane hoping I'd scrub enough speed that he might clear the lane...
Back started to break loose, let off and started to re-apply...the suv stops (in process of), released the break and tried to swerve around him instead.
I know the front of the bike cleared the suv...I knwo my left arm at least was clear when we made impact. Either the left frame slider, or the passenger peg took the impact. There's a whitish smear/rub on his bumper and took out his left headlight/turn signal. I remember the bump/impact from the left, trying to counter then impact to left forearm area and rolling out of the impact...(tuck/roll) then coming out into a prone roll once or twice then sliding down the side of the ditch. On my back, feet toward the direction I had come from. I remember doing a quick mental body check, pulling my gloves off (threw em off)..testing arms/hand then pulling my helmet off and throwing it on teh ground. Someone came over to give me a hand, told them to lave me be for a sec...sat a couple seconds then sat up.

did the person you collided with help you out? or was it someone else?

glad it wasn't too severe. sounds like you did your best to avoid the situation, i guess in the end, it could've ended waay worse.

Sorry guys, was typing that up... :-) Guy stayed, told the cops what happened. He was one of the first over there to check on me. Also have a witness (and his contact info). Cop cited him for failure to yield.

Visible, obvious damage, left fairing, busted and you can see the wiring pressed up against the tank. Scrape on frame, left grab bar and the frame slider bent when it went into the ditch. Left case cover is cracked, feels at least 1/2" in length at least. Oil leaking out when we unloaded it at the house.
Took them well over 30 minutes to load it on the wrecker... had to winch it out of the ditch. The front wheel/forks submarined under the turf in the ditch. A good 2" layer of mud/sod from the bottom of the wheel to the fairing. They winched it out, using a chain on the front wheel. Then ran a chain around the front forks & triple tree to mount it to the truck. Center stand straddled the tow bar and tow strap from bar sides over the seat and down. So possible damage to rim/forks & exhaust from towing too.
Seam blown out on the left sleeve of the jacket... screapes on the visor but at the times no obvious point of impact.. I THINK my left arm/shoulder took most the impact on the pads in the jacket.

Patrick, ya'll up to messing with it again? ...and no flak about my chain be dirty darnit. :-)

Well the first date can be at your house taking care of you or take this as a sign to stay away from her ......

NUTS, It looked like you hit a ditch from the photos from all the mud and water and , make sure you get the motor checked out and make sure no water got inside.

:-) First call i made was to apologize and explain that i was going to have to cancel.
2nd was for my ride home...

There was a off-duty cop working the auction who called the sheriff's dept.

Thinking over it in the bath.... im wondering/thinking I dind't get as clear as I first thought/hoped. I THINK the mark on the bumper may have been my frame slider, my knee/hip took out the signal/light.

My oldest made a comment how he was suprised i wasn't upset about the bike.. I told him i was happy/giddy to be in one piece with a few & minor injuries as I had.

Gryph, yea... we slid into across a lane into a ditch. maybe 1/2" water, and mud up to the top of my boots.
