Question About Purchasing a Vehicle form the Private Sector?

I haven't purchased a vehicle from local a Joe in over 15 years and when I did, I lived in Cali. So after you have made the deal to purchase the vehicle, what else has to be paid and to who.

you take the title down to the place where you get your vehicle registration, pay the $ to have the title transferred into your name (and any additional taxes, depending on the amount you paid) and that's it

Taxes are based upon a pre-determined amount in the state of Texas now. That sucks real bad, but it's how it is. Depending of "market value" is what your taxes will be based on.

One more thing I had to learn the hard way: ask for new plates. They're free and they'll give them to you right there. The old plates may be associated with the wrong type of people. GL with your new 'used' car!
