Noob Question about Bike Theft Insurance

I've wondered this for some time. Lets say one has Bike Theft Insurance for his motorcycle, and the owner claims to the insurance company his bike was stolen. How would the Insurance company know whether it was actually stolen or if he is lying to the insurance company and wants some extra cash from the insurance company?

-Noob at his best

I don't own a bike :/... Just a little curious. Ive seen a lot of threads with people saying their bikes getting stolen. I was just curious to know how the insurance company knows whether its legit.

Interesting question. I often wonder myself how may people wreck their bikes and then to claim it was stolen. I imagine the percentage would be higher on bikes than cars since bikes are wrecked so much more often...

pretty much on the investigator assigned discretion on how deep he wants to pry into the details. If you really want to scam, go all out and have a good story if you're really worried about if they think you are telling the truth.
