I have a couple CETME's and a G3. JLD builds a nice rifle. But if you want an assault rifle that goes bang everytime, get an AK.

And the G3/HK platform is fairly sensitive to being clean. The flutes in the chamber especially.

Original poster was looking for a rifle for target shooting and accuracy, and was specifically looking at and AR or bolt action rifle. So I woudn't put the hk in the same class as the ar-15. Most long range shooters reload their own. The 91's eat up ammo as its extracted and ejected. Try reloading whats left over from that. .223 is more economical to shoot and reload for vs .308. Accuracy is negligible up to 600 yards between the two calibers. Parts are plentiful for the AR. Lets see that 91 bite the dust and see locally who has spares for it. Most people complain of horrible triggers with the 91s, with 10 -15 lb pulls. Even GI ar-15 triggers aren't that bad. Lastly, show me results where a rifle based on a 91 actions has won any type of major shooting championship.

Well, my G3 shoots very well for a used surplus and rebuilt rifle. As in 3-4 holes touching at 100 with open sights. I wouldn't call it a target gun by any means, but there is a PSG sniper variant that quite a few Euros use.

The only .308 rifle I have any experiance with is a M1A1 or M-14. the ones that I fired in Army and at matches will punch groups on par with most AR-15's and come pretty close to what some bolt actions will do.
The only draw back is not getting full length in the chamber like you with a bolt action.

JLD, I have one and I love shooting it. Very cool PTR91.
