maybe a dumb question here, what kind of tires they use for the track the same everyday use ones or something diff?

My first trackday ever, was in the rain. Just remember to get your braking done a lil early, and try not to change the weight distribution too much at full lean, or mid corner. i.e. on-off-on throttle, braking mid-corner.
Keep the bike neutral midcorner, and remember the contact patch on the rear tire is larger than the one on the front tire. So having the throttle open, does not mean accelarating, but more matching engine speed w/ bike speed; this will keep the weight of the bike evenly distributed on the tires and thus give you your best grip. You can accelarate out of the corner, but keep it SMOOTH!

For your first couple of trackdays you will be fine on most any modern, name brand tire. Just make sure they have plenty of thread and are not "squared off". Also make sure to set your pressures corerectly for the track.

If your goals include getting faster, and faster; then eventually you will need to step-up to some good race tires.

Unless your tires are toast, you should be fine on the way home. the main thing is you want good tires on the track. On the way home should be cake after riding on the track in the rain.
But yes to answer your question, you can get new tires at the track. Most trackday orgs, have some type of tire support there.

You should really get everything ready several days in advance so you aren't scrambling at the track. I prepare everything one week prior and do a "once over" to make sure I have everything I need a couple of days prior, then a final check when I leave.

If they have tire support there (I guess KawiJM will be there?), he can change your tires for you, but you have to take them off yourself (unless Motorcycles Unlimited is there, you can pay them to R & R them for you).

Best thing to do is rent a trailer or borrow one, or a pickup truck to borrow or rent. Get your tires squared away before you go.

I would never ride whatever I'll be on the track to the track day, you're just asking for trouble.

+2, I tried that at MSRH once a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, and ended up scrambling to find a way to get my busted bike the 60miles back to my house. Not fun...

It says it is going to be sunny the day before and the day after. Hopefully, the wind will change that. Is the track available sunday just in case it does the r word?
