Thinking of buying KX125

I was thinking of buying a KX125 that's for sale. I was wanting it to play on, practice wheelies, etc. and to teach my GF how to ride. It's a '92, said it runs fine, I know the guy, so I believe him.

What do you think it's worth? and will it be ok for what I want it for?

Thanks, Kane

I'm sure it would be easier to learn how to "maintain" a wheelie with a 4 stroke but it'll be no problem getting the 2smokes wheel in the air.. I wouldn't pay much for it though, it's quite old. maybe a smaller 100 or 150 would be more suitable for what you are wanting to do. not to mention the heighth of the 125 is gonna be way up there.

for what you are wanting to do. 4 stroke FTMFW. that 2 stroke will be harder for her to learn on (powerband will rip her off the bike for sure) and it is a good bit harder to wheelie than a 4 stroke.

So ya'll think this would be a better choice? http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=36099
Also, does anyone know if he still has it?
Thanks, Kane
P.S.>It'll also be for me to play on, not just to teach her.

700-800 depending on the condition,

but for a girl and to play around on an XR200 would be a good choice imo, big enough and enough power for you to enjoy with smooth tractable power that won't spit her off or die at low rpm

If you can find a SP125(4 stroke suzuki duel sport street legal from 84-92??) They were the dr/dl before they changed the name, pretty reliable and if you gear them down they will go up trees!!!!!!!

2 strokes are reall jerky when trying to just play around on they like to be full throttle or nothing...

I don't like the ttr125 it will be two small for you to have fun on, she would like it you can always get one of those for her or an XR100 and an xr200 for you probly for 1500 for both check craigslist often

I think a ttr 125 would be great for her for sure, not a ton of power but fun nonetheless, I am almost certain bucks is sold, but LadyLuck on here has a very nice one for sale

He still has his, it has the 150 big bore kit on it. Would that be enough for me to play around on and something to teach her on? I'd like something a little bigger for me to play on, something like a 250 but can't find one for the right price.

If I got a standard dirtbike, what would it cost to set one up like a motard or supermoto?

Thanks, Kane

roughly around $1000 for the "true" conversion, and thats the cheap way.. Wheels, tires, possibly a brake and suspension set up. it isn't cheap but, you can piece it together here and there like i did. took me a while just to get wheels for it. unless you want to do it as a project, buy a SM set up already and forget it.
