I had a 99 Blackbird and loved it. My only regret is I had to sell it to fund my RC51. It was a sweet super-sport tourer. It is smooth and very comfortable for the long-haul. If you get really sporty w/ it a front fork job is in order. IMO, the only color to get is black. 99 is when they started w/ fuel injection. Fit & Finish is top notch on the Blackbird. Turn signals in the rearview mirrors on such a high-production bike was years ahead of its time. Here was mine in it's sport touring attire:

I'd pimp one. My next bike will be a set up for sport touring. The super sports are growing old on me and I want to travel more. Planning for a zx-14 set up with hard and soft bags soon. Alaska here i come.

That run was done in everyone's favorite area north of Montgomery. Honda did a TON of high-speed wind tunnel work and extensive modeling on the bike's aerodynamic profile. Why they pitched a weak engine in it is beyond me. I think Honda wanted aero efficiency over output power. If your're going to get a XX, get a 99-04. They have FI from the HRC bikes of the same vintage, functional ram air, adds about 8-10 HP on the top end, and a nice dashboard. Next to the ZX-14, the XX was one of my most favorite bikes.

I loved my Blackbird!
Comfortable, fast and can be made into a VERY capable handling machine.
It's one of the few bikes I regret selling.

The Super Blackbird was killer. They need to bring it back to compete with the 14's and Busa's. Truly a superbike in all aspects.
