No George Strait is quite news. Didn't he always kick it off?

I don't like the echoey sound of the new big stadium and as long as people who went to the concerts keep telling me that it sounds horrible, I have no desire to go.

I'd go for the Barrel Racing and some rodeo action - don't need much sound for that - but could care less for the concert.

it is true... the sound there is less than desireable.

Upon request I will pen an entire country song that will sell a million singles provided you prefer I stick to standard country criteria; getting drunk, loving 2 people, having no money, doing something stupid knowing it's stupid, sodomy, ruining some poor kids life, a relative that does something you remember but in a good way, destroying someone's property, destroying your own property, anything with a truck, 911, anything with a horse, sodomy, crying incessantly, being proud of being ignorant as , getting knocked up by a famliy member, getting knocked up by a horse....

I can use any or all of these, so get back to me about our song. Lot's of money, just waiting to be made...
Im gonna have to say i resent the majority of this post...while i do drive a wrecker i do not do any kind of tobacco product, nor am i a hillbilly...i know there are some out there that fit into this "persona" but not all of them and not all of them are out there to screw you over.

as for the country music/rodeo same thing i said above...not everyone that listens to or lives in the country is a imbread hillbilly with no teeth or into f*ckin sheep (or horses in your example) it's the same as people putting all bikers in the same group as the ones that act a fool just cause they are on a bike

Where's Robert Earl Keen? I can't believe George isn't gonna be there either.

i'll go to cookoff, and maybe a concert or two, but I hate sitting at concerts. And I really only like to see the Texas guys which I can see for $10 at a small venue.

What country music are you all listening too? Recently, I am actually noticing a lot of godfearing lyrics more than anything. Considering this is Texas, not much love for country music around here, hm?

I didn't mean to get people all crazy and off about rodeo!! I was just letting you guys know the line up. As for George Straight, yes, he has always opened the rodeo since the last year in the Astrodome. As far as why he's not there I'm sure I can find out for you guys since so many of you are concerned!

Turns out you can't tease people without putting little smiley faces, so they don't get twisted knickers and ask you for dates. maybe I should clarify.
back in the days of faron young, red steagell, haggard and cash guys actually lived the songs they wrote. common man with uncommon talent. it took years to pen songs because thats how long it took to live what you wrote. guys wrote the lyrics, music and played their own instruments, going from dive to dive scratching out a meager living. albums were years apart. soon artists caved to burning albums as fast as possible with clearly little thought to what went in to sell records. don't ask me, ask hank 3 who penned "pop country sucks". guys living in giant houses with housekeepers, the internet, and giant paychecks telling us about how to be a concept they call "country". I'm not buying it, and it's an affront to those who do real jobs in those fields. some people will listen to just about anything that's marketed to them, but I won't.
and someone living in an apartment with no horse or cattle working a desk job who puts on a hat to go to a bar is playing dress-up, like a kid on halloween.
it's just funny to me.

wait til I start teasing nascar fans, I'll have to break out the claymore's to get my car out of the driveway.
