Can't we at least have a short narrative so we know why you're venting? I'm curious.

She's 19 and naive. I said, look, all mechanics are going to tell you that so they can get your money.

I told her, our techs here are actually BMW certified and the car has already been checked out.

Anyhow, she said....well...i believe him. I said...okay.

Then she said...can you drop the price 2 grand? Bwhahahaha i laughed again and just told her to it wasn't meant to be and head down to Gillman Honda, buy her a certified Accord and spend $5k more dollars.

She said...I can't, I've already shopped. So I said, well...good luck then.

dude that sux....u'll be better when ur at home chillin watching TV

You are close to my dad's shop. If you ever need an honest place to go to, go to cyber motorcars on Northpark in Kingwood. Their rates are decent and I guarantee you, he won't charge you if he doesn't have to. I know he had one person bring a car in from another shop with a quote to rebuild/replace an engine. Said the motor was shot. Well my dad checked it out. He could have easily gone ahead and said the same thing and just shave a little money off the quote to get the job. It was easy taking, but when he checked into it, all it needed was like $150 part. He fixed it labor and all for under $250 and the car never had another problem. He has so many stories like this it isn't funny. I have seen that place (he is a partner in the business) help out people so much it isn't funny. I am biased but man, it is so hard finding an honest place. I watched him work on a diesel (which he will tell you he isn't an expert on) for like a week trying to figure it out for one of his regulars, well he couldn't fix the problem. He didn't charge anything at all, not even the diagnosis fee. He tried multiple parts and had multiple hours on the job. I know there are good shops on this forum that will take care of you, but it never hurts to know a couple more.

Did she show you the estimate listing the 'work' that needed to be done?

The mechanic always points out things that could/should be replaced but that doesn't really mean that one can't do without it.
