2006 Yamahas

As I mentioned on the other post, here are the pictures:

http://public.fotki.com/Zapata/zapat.../2006_yamahas/

Do not wanted to post pictures here due to the big size and to avoid wasting bandwith (sp?)

Click the link: Get Original Uploaded Photo to get the full size (3000 x 1903) photo.

Seems like the bad for the next year is the R1 LE (Limited Edition).

R6

Quote:
Per Motorcycle Online:
Wow, this thing is completely different than those MCN spy shot we saw two weeks ago. Indeed, this bike looks different than any sportbike we've ever seen. In person, it seems much smaller than the outgoing R6, but the seating position is almost exactly the same as the old bike, so comfort shouldn't be compromised. The new fairing was designed to minimize aerodynamic drag, while allowing Yamaha to flex its considerable styling muscle. It succeeded on the styling part, because the bike is interesting from every angle, with the diagonal slashes in the fairing and the ladder-mounted license/taillight cluster being the most visually captivating, while the under-frame muffler and stubby exhaust pipe are noteworthy from a mechanical standpoint. According to Yamaha, the new R6 was a "No Compromise" design that is almost entirely new compared to the previous generation bike. Judging by its looks and the quality of its fit and finish, we'd have to guess that this might be the first 600 priced above $9,000. The official price should be announced later this month. In the mean time, this bike gives us loads to think about. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the tachs on the new R6s we were allowed to view had their redlines marked at 17,500RPM... Think it's real? , I hope so.

Per Yamaha: The all-new R6 is full of Yamaha-exclusive innovations and new technologies that make it the most advanced production motorcycle ever built. The new R6 features an all-new four-cylinder engine capable of amazing acceleration. A MotoGP-derived "straight frame" chassis houses it--and Formula 1 style aerodynamics and a titanium MotoGP-style exhaust are just two of the things that complete it. Yamaha has raised the bar and revolutionized the class--AGAIN.

* Titanium midship muffler w/EXUP valve
* Inverted front fork with two-way compression damping adjustment
* Single shock with two-way compression damping adjustment
* Dual 310mm floating discs w/ radial mount four-piston calipers
* Team Yamaha (Blue/White); Raven (Black); 50th Anniversary (Yellow/Black)
R6S

Quote:
Per Motorcycle Online:
The 2006 R6S is designed to offer modern middleweight performance at a more accessible price point. Last year's R6 received inverted forks and radial mount brakes, with a sticker price of $8,399. Since the new R6 will probably be a good bit more expensive than that bike and since the R6S uses the older conventional fork and brake mounting from the '03-'04 R6, we'd guess that Yamaha will probably try to price the S slightly below $8,000.

YAMAHA SAYS: Winner of several middleweight shootouts, the R6 also won the 2003 AMA Supersport championship. That's a thing we call "balance"--a seemingly impossible combination of cutting-edge sporting prowess and real-world ridability. For 2006, we've changed the name but kept the same incredible combination of power, performance and style--at a lower price. The R6S.

* 600cc liquid-cooled 16-valve DOHC inline four-cylinder
* Fuel Injection w/40mm throttle bodies
* Fully adjustable fork; Fully adjustable linkage-mount rear shock
* Dual 310mm floating discs w/four-piston calipers
* Team Yamaha (Blue/White); Raven (Black)

Nice! I'm thinking the R6S is competition for the F4i. If they got rid of the 600R they wouldn't have a faired bike with a full seat. I'm guessing they'd have to keep it around for a while at least. Hopefully anyways!
