Good luck with the rebuild. Good thing you have a "mini" busa to ride.

Patrick, I was making a top speed run tuesday when we had that super cool/dry air....Sucker was haulin azz right before it died....lol Not sure exactly what happened..... did it lean out or just detonation??.... This was around 10-11lbs of boost on 93 octane with no intercooler or water injection....It cooked at around 10,000rpms in 6th so I was holding it in boost for a while. I wasn't watching the AFR gauge so I don't know if it went lean....Normally AFR is around 11.5-1 on it until about 10,200 then it richens to about 10.8-1.....normally its fine like that but.....not this time. I think it was probably just a tad too much boost for 93oct for that long of a run...

This was around 260hp.....

You have to really richen up a FI engine when you string them out, especially in the cold with the crappy winter fuel formulation. I'm sure you're not running a stock timing program either and it's retarded?
You might want to invest in a pyrometer as well if you're going to do long top-end pulls. AFR is only a small part of the picture, the exhaust temp will tell you for certain that things are getting too hot, especially with a turbo.

177? Dude did you have it stuck in 4th gear or what?

I thought that you'd given up on the WOT runs? I'm taking the bike back to Lee and see what we can put together for March. Glad that thing didn't lockup on you. Why don't you put a water injection system in it? How long you figure before you're back on it again?

DOA- I was WELL into 6th when it toasted. I just ordered about 95% of the parts from Stedman yesterday....I should have it running in a couple weeks depending on parts and the repairs I have to make on the turbo etc... I will post up more pics tonight...

Tranny is already undercut and I already have the heat treated shift forks in it. They look perfect. No one makes billet forks yet, only billet shift shafts....really not needed though.

That middle gear just has some shine on it, thats completely normal, it shows the wear pattern of the driven gear on it...its all good. Now the 6th gear driven gear is not the greatest(the little gear) its got some pitting on it and that could eventually cause problems but probably not for another 20k miles or so...I am sure I will be in it again by then.

I am going to have the crank micro polished but I will be putting the same size bearings back in it. The bearings looked really good and really don't need replacing but I am going to since they have 30k miles on em.

No REAL progress yet....I screwed my knee up and am just now getting to walk ok.....here is just a few things:

1) New cylinder(used 05 w/ 4k miles) is here and prepped
2) All engine parts ordered(rings/bearings/rods/gaskets/etc) be here this week
3) Turbo shipped off for rebuild
4) Header going out tomorrow for welding
5) Crank going to machine shop for micro polishing tomorrow.

I will probably start reassembling the shortblock this weekend if the parts show up by then.

Repair cost so far is $1750 and counting.....
I will get pics as it goes back together for those interested.
