200mph top speed or 200 within a 1 mile course? BIG difference.

Either way a 40hp shot of dope, a good exhaust system and good tuning will get your Gen 1 there. But getting it within 1 mile will be a little tough....you will need all the tricks. Remember your bike makes 150hp or so....piped gen IIs make 185hp.

What are you up to now?

Well I will tell you this....I don't "regret" doing mine but..... I won't ever do another one..... Just way too much $$ in the long run, too much maintenance and too much room for error/carnage.

But all that being said, if you go right to a stage 2 kit with secondaries and an intercooler or Ultra Plenum from the start, and you build a full on turbo motor from the start, you will save yourself a lot of headaches and additional labor....But plan on spending $10-12k just to get it started...

The $4200 stg 1 kits and a spacer plate in the motor is just the initial investment......The fuel system on the stg 1 kits suck...(FMU), they will wreak havok contrary to what those that sell the kits will tell you. Gen IIs are a little better since they have 8 injectors from the factory and Smithabusa has had good luck tuning with ECU flashing and a GM map sensor. I still prefer the piggy back system like a Microtec myself but.....

Lets just say there are MANY trade offs to turbo charging..... The power is great, the survival rate is not.....especially for LSR...

I have had my bike turboed for 7 years, 2 different kits, 2 motors, 3 heads, spent over $30k on this thing in 11 years. Just know what you are getting into....

Thats the reality.

It looks like Alan definitely have it going in the right direction.

I am moving towards a VR Stage II or Stage III system on an '08 1000. It looks like it will be a fully built 4x3 with the turbo. We will do the build from the frame up with parts that I already have (excluding the HP parts).

My son really wants to build this after all of the N2O bikes; this will be a significant change. I have done numerous high end boosted cars, but this would be the first fully built approach to a supersport.

I hope I am not travelling down a dark, seldom travelled road...

Dont use the 07 cases ,they are notorious for cracking.Use the 07 head on an older set of cases. And you wont find anybody doing a big bore stroker trbo 1000.Better off keeping stock bore and stroke

That's kind of why I'm on the fence. I've talked to Richard and a few about doing the Stage-2 with a fully built motor from the get go. Keeping the ECU editor (unless he can't get it tuned) and thinking of going E85 while I'm at it. I really don't need anything crazy 350-400 would be more than enough (at least until I get tired of that).

I really don't know how fast I want to go. I'd love to go 250+ but at this time it's not worth the investment. I think I'll be ok in the 220's but we'll see if I pull the trigger.

My main problem is I just don't have the time like I us to. I'll probably end up having to send the bike to Richard if I do it and hopefully make sure it's built right. Then again, the wife would still rather me sell it and get a Viper or something...

I was thinking 200mph + with-in 1 mile. I just want to get a shirt so I can wear one when you guys wear yours. Gay on the shirt comment, but somewhat serious for hitting 200 +. Not that I could do it now, but maybe in 2 years or so.

Edit: make that a 10year plan....$4200 - $10K not in my budget anytime soon.....

ive already got 01 cases, and we are either going 4*3 and spray the house down, or 4mil crank and push a ton of air thru it.

my k7 with 4mil crank and worked head is pretty wild on 2 stages of spray, i cant wait to see what a few extra psi will do.
