OUCH!

Looks like too much nitrous or too much boost collapsed the ring lands and scarred the walls because the rings couldn't float anymore.

How bad is the head?

No it didn't lock up, bottom end is fine.....I will still pull it down and put bearings in it though, clean and inspect everything etc..

Patrick, I was making a top speed run tuesday when we had that super cool/dry air....Sucker was haulin azz right before it died....lol Not sure exactly what happened..... did it lean out or just detonation??.... This was around 10-11lbs of boost on 93 octane with no intercooler or water injection....It cooked at around 10,000rpms in 6th so I was holding it in boost for a while. I wasn't watching the AFR gauge so I don't know if it went lean....Normally AFR is around 11.5-1 on it until about 10,200 then it richens to about 10.8-1.....normally its fine like that but.....not this time. I think it was probably just a tad too much boost for 93oct for that long of a run...

This was around 260hp.....

Based on what you've said, I'd come to the conclusion that it probably detonated itself to oblivion.

Plus 1 on checking the rod bearings, as I'm sure they absorbed quite a load while this was happening.
I'd also recommend checking the big and little ends of the rod to make sure they're concentric and within spec.

If there's anything you need, give me a shout.
