Bike 1 / Dog 0...

Mowed over a dog Sun. morning heading out to Fayetteville. Sucked, but I kept the bike up. Dog was highly motivated, and I 'm sure was used to catching most Harley's... This time didn't fair too well for the canine. I don't like hitting animals, but sometimes it happens. I wasn't quite sure if anything was damaged from the impact, so I decided to run "racer road" at a much more subdued pace. I have no problem running twisties ultra fast on a 640lb HD, but doing so with "doubts" of any sort about my bike's condition tends to slow me down... lord knows, I'm already pushing it!

...just fwiw, riding worried is about the same riding drunk.... stay sharp out there!

Glad your okay. As for the pooch, well, they all go to heaven I hear. Probably explains their suicidal nature.

I an over an Armadillo last spring. It was really scary, it felt like I went over a speed bump going 90. My gas tank hit my chest so hard it knocked the wind out of me!

I remember you telling me this at Orsaks and my jaw dropped to the ground. The bike didn't even look damaged. Ok don't lie you hit a mini poodle haha.

On our way out to F-ville I had to dodge 3 of them bastards walking in the road. And later on in the day I was inches from running over a squirrel

I came a few inches from hitting a turtle on the forest ride last year. And the squirrels in my hood see me coming and run out to the middle of the road and wait on me. I have not hit one yet, but I am sure the day is coming.

Yep. People suck. It's always sad to lose a pet, but if you know your pet chases bikes then you have to keep it contained. My dogs kept getting out of the fence, and the strays got in, so we got them electric collars. They work very well. Highly recommended.

thanks for the well-wishes, I have three dogs that mean the world to me, and would hate to have anythinng happen to them. Which is why they don't get to leave the backyard.

I'm really glad you're okay.

But in the eyes of the law who would be responsible? If a rider were to perish (i'd neva wish that on anyone) But could the owners be held responsible for letting the animal out?
