Any of you (besides Juice) ever visit Adventure Rider? www.advrider.com/forums

Widely international and one of the biggest forums I've ever seen or heard of.

It's a good mix - lots of informative stuff, although geared mostly towards distance touring, dualsport, and dirt but with "flair".

It's got a section or two with an "anything goes" attitude similar to MH, but the sections for ride reports, information, gear talk, etc. are kept strictly that. All the off topic stuff is culled and moved down to "the basement" and stays there. It's like a forum all of its own down there, and those on here that think they are postwhores are just a drop in the bucket compared to those guys.

the problems arent the mods but the quality of posts made by its members in most cases.

+1, but with a twist - as hard as the members THINK the mods are being on them and their posts, if they were this hard or harder from the start you (members in general) never would have taken it this far to need this much babysitting.

You give an inch, they take a foot.

i thank MH i give them my hard earned money every month and am interested on how i should feel bout some of the things i read and see here any help would be great!

and if the mods can mod and not delete what i write here it would be real cool pll should always feel welcome 2 express themselves... especially if they are a contributing member and sponsor!

let pll talk! mods arent moms and dads just mods let pll say what they have 2 say or want ......... thats what i hope this forum will be about this coming year.....

1)i dont think it should be deleted, maybe bring it to the poster attention if something is not right

2)it doesnt matter for me because still, we will know who that person is anyway

3)not yet, i left one because i switched brands of bike

4)it depends of traffic as sbfuller said

5)i hope it stays in the same rail, i like it the way it is now

6)well i really like that almost everyone give and take and is no drama but yeah with the exception of some i give hard time and can take it well

i just hope everyone can be the same way tho, we are in the same road, lets be more friendly

untill now after a year i havent had any problem with anyone here, or even the posted rules, i want that again for 2008

and about being more technical. yes it might, but i always find an answer here and very often is fast than any other forum

i really dont have any problem with this forum at all

as i said i like it the way it is, hence why im always here good job to all who contributes

after a few months after joining in, i realized that we are not only members we are a family

and i've seen that many times,

happy 2008

[QUOTE=Javi;927532]Never joined one till MH, but wanted 2 know what other pll think bout how one should be....

1.. if a thread is made and the mods dont like it but its not negative just not welcomed by them should it be deleted?

It depends, if it's a thread to intentionally start drama or is in violation of the Forum Rules, than yes.

As Cliff very succinctly put it:
Quote:
Just like if I invite one of them over to my house, I still control the TV, air condition and so on.

2.. should pll have 2 names so they can controll what u read?

IF you are referring to my Mod identity, I was asked to help moderate fairly and I have.
I have never used it to benefit me or my business.
As a matter of fact, I have gone out of my way to make sure I never got put in a compromising position.

AND once again, IF you are referring to me, than I take offense to you questioning my ethics.
To do so smacks of stirring drama and high school bull sh*t. I thought better of you, apparently I was mistaken in my judgment.

3.. ever had 2 leave one because of un fairness?

No, but I've left because I didn't fit in.

Participating in a forum is like visiting someones house.

At some of my friends houses I'll get a drink from the fridge without asking. At others I won't be so forward.

It comes down to respect, and how you fit in the forum.

People who are drama hounds, while initially entertaining, become tiresome pretty quick.

4..how many mods does a forum need?

As has been stated; it depends on how much traffic it has, how many of the mods are active, and how many of them are active at different times.

5..what are ur ideas on where MH is going this coming year?

It will continue to grow. As with any thing, it will encounter "growing pains", and some people that are here now won't be later.
Some leave the sport, some leave the forum, others may fit in better at other places.

It's like a funnel; you just try to keep what's going in to be more than what's going out.

6..what would the ideal forum be like..

MH is pretty close, I like the Ducati Monster Forum as well. It's a national one I go to occasionally, the 1911 forum is pretty good too IMO.

i thank MH i give them my hard earned money every month and am interested on how i should feel bout some of the things i read and see here any help would be great!

Yes you do, as do the rest of the sponsors on this board, and we all reap from it, including you, what's your point?.

In my opinion, this thread has been initiated to start drama, probably with some instigation from some others.

If you really have concerns about the board, OUT OF RESPECT you should try reaching Chris privately.
I'm sure you have Chris' number, or if not try pm'ing him about your "concerns".

If you can't resolve your "issues" than you have but two choices really; swallow hard and accept the way it is, or leave.
I've done it in the past, and will probably again.

In the end, this IS Chris' house and it should be respected as such.

Typically?

On any of the forums I've been a mod on, the following usually apply:

Be a contributing member to the overall good of the board. Be fair and moderate in your own posts, avoid stirring drama.

Peopel who display these traits are usually asked to be a mod.
