srad fairing conversion

i have a buddy who has a 00 srad 600 and he wants to swap the tail and front fairing for the 01-03 fairings. i've seen it done but i don't know what all is involved. in order to change out the tail section on the srad do you have to change the whole sub frame? or do the 01-03 fairing just bolt right on to the srad sub frame? any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you can get the frame codes and look them up between those years, it would give you your answers; If the frames match then it would.

Otherwise, another chancy way would be to check w suzuki direct, find the part numbers for both rear frames and see if they are the same per year

00 and 01 have different subframes that is the year they changed on the 600 and they changed in oo for the 750's if you go looking for one. I just had to change out my subframe and looked up the year compatibilities when I was looking for one. I don't know if you can rig the farings on though to different subs??

Hope this helps a little.

To "convert" the whole bike you need:

'01-'03 sub frame (complete)
'01-'03 fairing stay (with headlight)
'01-'03 fairings

You'll have to fashion some way to make the ram air hook up- I would start with aftermarket fiberglass and then fiberglass the changes you need to make. Maybe it will work.

IMHO, it's an expensive "swap" and not worth it (there's no advantage to having it, it's only cosmetic).

It would be better (and probably cheaper) to just sell the SRAD and get a newer bike.

not worth it, imo. here is what he needs to do:

get the solo tail for the SRAD.
bolt it on.

enjoy all the compliments as strangers ask...

"is that one of them there suzuki hayabiscus?"

for real, when i had the hump on my srad, 3-4 people a week asked me if it was "an older busa"...
