it's unfortunate to see a good leader go, especially in a place where those people need some kind of hope.

Benazir Bhutto (IPA: [beːnɜziːr bʰʊʈʈoː]; 21 June 1953 - 27 December 2007) was a Pakistan politician. Bhutto was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, having been twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. She was sworn in for the first time in 1988 but removed from office 20 months later under orders of then-president Ghulam Ishaq Khan on grounds of alleged corruption. In 1993 Bhutto was re-elected but was again removed in 1996 on similar charges, this time by President Farooq Leghari.

Bhutto went into self-imposed exile in Dubai in 1998, where she remained until she returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007, after reaching an understanding with General Musharraf by which she was granted amnesty and all corruption charges were withdrawn.[1]

Yeah, this was bound to happen sooner or later. She and her security were asking the government (Musharef) for more protection, but their requests went in one ear and out the other... repeatedly. She was probably booted out of office, not because she was corrupt, but because the authorities who booted her were corrupt, not accepting the fact that a woman was voted into the PM position.

it was bound to happen, they already tried it once. Its a shame that she spent all that time in exile only to come back, be shot, then blown up.

Saw that this morning, it's a shame, but it's the world we live in, and I don't see any end to it in sight.

Charges of corruption have dogged her from pretty much day 1, and there has been some pretty convincing evidence that she was, and some that she wasn't.

I'm not sure one way or the other.

It will be something to monitor at this point, as they are one of our allies in that region.

As a species, we're much more likely to be wiped out by a natural disaster; i.e. flooding, asteroid impact, volcano, etc.

I do believe though that our way of life will probably change significantly in the next 20 years or so.
