Urandaman--wanted to find something special for your post # 666?

Seriously though--I've been watching this for a while. Curious. A bit of digging reveals that the kid in the bulletin now claims he faked the photos. He posted up a blog about his jenkem experience. Whether he recanted to save face or what, I dunno, but I love his plea: "I just don't want anyone to ever recognize me as the kid who huffed gas."

What has me so curious, though, are the historical implications. Think about civilizations where raw sewage wasn't far removed from living quarters and the community. If it has the hallucinogenic properties reported by the kids in Lusaka, then I wonder if there's a link between lack of sanitation and rise of superstitious peoples. In particular, I'm thinking about the Medieval period. There are occultic accounts of feces being a particuarly delightful draw for demons and other nasties.

I wish credible investigators would cowboy up and investigate this. Inquiring minds want to know--but not bad enough to do any backyard analysis.
