I could make a better assesment if I had some pics.
J/K, take the MSF and see how you like the feel of those bikes. It will at least give you a base line to start with.

Re: Trying to buy a bike!!!

if your not looking for a sport bike (think everyone assumed you are) then some of the other 250-600cc cruisers, from Honda, Kawi, Yamaha, Suzuki are a good start. I'd start small and get a reliable 250 for as cheap as possible, ride it for a season, and if you are ready or want a little more gogo power then get a bigger bike. You will be 1000% more confident in your riding abilities and you wont lose any money on your starter bike. May even make a few bucks if you find a real good deal...

Because of your height a cruiser maybe your best option anyway instead of having to mess around with lowering the bike. My wife is 1" taller then you and basically couldnt stand flat footed on anything but a cruiser.

a lowered r1 sound perfect in your case... keep in mind that your light weight makes you an ideal rider...

and if u always decide to go with something slower you can buy godsuki's* gsxr.
