Exclamation Need HELP with Bike Front End ...

My wife laid her bike down a couple of weeks ago. the bike had sustained a lot of damage to the tail and then slid on the right side and bent / cracked the throttle clip-on.
I dropped the bike off at Javi's and he went ahead and installed a new clip-on and he just told me that when the handle bars are strait, that the front wheel is angled off a little bit. But he is not sure what exactly is bent.

Im gonna go pick up the bike this afternoon ... I need help from someone that might have some experience with this to tell me what to look for, to see what exactly might be bent or warped.
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

what exactly is the tree ... I know that piece that the forks slide into on the top side, by the key ignition is a triple tree ... is that the only part of the tree?

she also could have bent the head tube, but i doubt it. if thats the case, the frame is a goner.

thats why its very exp. to fix bikes. you have to find some used tree's and hope their straight, compare to yours. if your tree's are straight, you may have spare tree's and now will need a frame.

take it to a true shop

M/U or Metric.

yeah, i was just looking at a picture of a full front end triple tree ... apparently, there are two "triangle thingies" ... the upper tree and the lower tree.
if its not noticable by looking at it ... is there a way of checking to see which one is bent? (without taking it to that place in dallas)

Motorcycles Unlimited FTW
WTF is the deal, why take it somewhere that can't fix it? Seems like a waste to me.

I didn't know it was bent when I took it to Javi's ... He's the one that found out it was bent.

OH btw
It is probably the lower triple. It is safer / cheaper in the long run to just buy a new lower triple.
It MAY be just twisted a bit. In that case it can be straightened out.

I understand, but I am assuming if your taking it elsewhere, then he said he could not fix it?

yeah, thats what Im thinking too. after looking at the pics ... you know how the lower triple has these littel tabs that are designed to stop the handle bars from turning all the way into your gas tank ... well, i remember that the left one was broken off.
so I'm guessing, the bike landed on its right side, on the handle bar, which made the steering column jerk to the left, and it hit that tab so hard that it broke it off and probably bent the lower tree a little to the left.

well, he said at first glance he doesnt know whats bent ... he doesnt have a big shop, so he doesnt have im sure the tools to level things out to see whats wrong. if its the lower tree, then yeah, he can replace it.

Might have also just twisted the forks in the clamps and makes it look out of line. You can use a degree indicator to check that the forks are parallel, and then loosen all the fork tube clamp bolts and see if it can be put back.
