Tualatin Man Accidentally Shoots, Kills Wife

Do not play with a loaded weapon

http://www.kptv.com/news/14882840/detail.html

TUALATIN, Ore. -- A man who signed on to become a Clark County sheriff's deputy accidentally shot his wife to death in Tualatin on Sunday, according to police.

Police said Ryan Osbrink, 24, was practicing drawing his pistol from a holster when it unintentionally discharged as his wife, Kimberly Osbrink, entered the room.

A bullet struck Kimberly Osbrink in the stomach, police said. When emergency crews arrived, they said they found Ryan Osbrink administering first aid to his wife, who was rushed to Oregon Health & Science University.

Kimberly Osbrink later died at the hospital.

Ryan Osbrink had signed an offer of employment with the Clark County Sheriff's Office. His first day of work was to be Dec. 19, but his hiring has been delayed pending the outcome of the investigation.

The gun used in the shooting was a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol that Osbrink owned.

The Tualatin Police Department is still investigating the shooting. Their findings will be forwarded to the Washington County District Attorney's Office for review.

I agree.

1. Shouldn't have been loaded
2. Safety on
3. Finger off the trigger.

The only other thing i could think of maybe he removed the clip but forgot to clear the chamber.

or

He wanted to kill her.
But thats for courts to decide, I'd like to hear more about this one though

The wife may have been "alive" at the scene and/or hospital to confirm his story. Stomach wounds are often fatal but not because they kill you right away, because of the toxic mess that leaks into your abdomen.

Anyway, we don't know he was trying to off his wife. I agree with Duck84 - I can't imagine what he must be going through if he didn't want her dead.
