I like the 848 nice color but with out the option for a steering dampner that's a no no for me. To my knowledge as of now there is no way to mount the dampner unless you change the triple clamp.

I haven't seen one up close and personal yet (*hint, hint Tom), but the upper triple can probably be drilled and tapped, or possibly an adapter fitted.

Tom,
I'm off a bit during the holidays, we'll have to get together and ride!

Wow, your awesome!
I'd rather have a big meaty power band and load of tq. rather than few extra ponies up in the stratosphere, but thats just me.

Flyin Duc,
It's been my opinion that a fast guy on a slow bike gets alot more respect than a slow guy on a fast bike. Not insinuating that your slow, because I don't know you, but I've passed my share of 1098's around MSRH on my heavier and slower RC51. Why have the extra power if you can't use it? Okay, I'll unwad my panties now. Thanks for the compliments.

Patrick and Clyde,
I'm ready when you are friends, just let me know when and where.

Sweet bike!

I'll bet it's just about right. New pipes in it's future? The Termi's on Tim's 1098 sound GREAT!

Maybe later, first on the agenda is a rear ride height adjuster and maybe a spring/revalve job depending on how much weight I put on over the holidays,. A new set of pipes would certainly be sweet, but it's not a priority just yet. The stock pipes sound pretty nice actually.

An opinion like that is held with regards to skill only, which is a fine example of someone with a good head on their shoulders, its simply truth, if someone has extra power they are afraid of using, they will simply not improve exponentially.

I remember when i used to own a 250, passing up a few 600's who used to talk trash about my 250 like i couldn't hang. On the turns, it was as though they parked their bike while i passed them up. Only thing that remains are hurt egos.

Just kidding guys, I knew I would catch some flack over those comments, I agree 100% I love to race guys with me riding something smaller and much older, dirt street or whatever, but U still cant argue with having some extra ponies, I,d love to ride with U guys sometimes, the 848 and the 1098 are almost identical, size, weight, etc. but with less power, I,m sure I would love one of them, but if ur gonna spend that much jack whats a little more?, I,m not as fast as I once was, but I,m as fast once as I ever was, My priorities have changed slightly once I had granddaughters, I want to ride with them for years to come, and with all the accidents I,ve seen on here in the last year, I,ve slowed down slightly, but with the big twins they are have so much personality and style they are a hoot to ride anytime, at any speed. there is allways somebody faster

Not too shabby. Can't wait to break this thing in to see what happens after 6000 rpm.
I dont understand, the dyno pull went to 9.6k rpm's or more, whats break in and 6k rpms gonna throw at ya that you didnt see yet? What are you expecting to see?
not bashing, just interested to see what the numbers will change to after break in. I cant see it being that much of a difference.

Tim,
Typically we'll see a 3-5% increase when broken in. It's mainly due to an increase in volumetric efficiency, typically from better piston ring sealing.

I don't believe there will be much more absolute peak power when broken in, but then again with at least 13 ft/lbs more torque stock than your average 750, the bike will be pretty damned quick.

What I meant is I want to see how it felt above 6K rpm since I have to keep it below that for a few hundred miles during break in.

this is an issue with varying opinions at leeast with the inlines it is. Not sure how I would break in my italian hooker but I know that I showed no mercy to my japanese hooker and she ended up great!
