Yes, in a perfect world there would be no guns.

Unfortunately I know of nothing perfect in this life, other than maybe my love for my daughter.

As far as what happened to that poor girl, who's to say that if there were no guns that the guy wouldn't have used a knife, a bat or an axe to assault them?

Now, how about this, what if the mom had been armed?

Is it possible that she sould have prevented the entire episode?

That's the whole point of the original post, when life hands you no choice but to resist the violence of another person, a gun can and will level the playing field.

Had I not been armed it would have been a much different story, but because I was, I had a CHOICE.

As far as your other comments, however o/t they may be;

My crew and I get paid to do good quality work or sell items that have an intrisnic value, we don't take anyones money.

Maybe that's the difference between our viewpoints, PEOPLE do depend on me, both for their livliehood and to service their bikes.

I care if I'm here long term, for my family, for my crew and their families as well as for my customers who have come to depend on us.

As far as the voice of reason and love, practice what you preach.

Lastly you are welcome to your opinion, but don't ever tell me I can't voice mine.

If you don't like it, that's your problem.

If you've got something bothering you, take it to pm's or give me a call, you know how to reach me.

Can't we all just get along? Now now boys, you are both in the same line of business, you SHOULD be helping one another out, NOT narking one another.
You both provide GREAT service to your customers, one more so than the other.

Anyways this has gone to a whole new level, back on topic of guns

I am not completly against guns, like I said we have SEVERAL in our house, I am just saying it's sad we have to have them for our own protection :/:

this is true, but what is the need of a gun if you dont have the intention to kill someone or something in the first place?

It is called deterent, or a defense. Because I tend to live in the real world where the bad guys want to steal and hurt me and mine. And odds are good they have one, so mine is the equalizer.

Like I said, it all boils down to personal choice. Violent crime in our neck of the woods has been on the rise for the past few years. There aren't enough law men around to protect us all, all the time. I make the choice to do whatever I can to provide my own protection, as opposed to "hoping" it doesn't happen to me.

You can curl up in the corner and take the whipping, or stand up and fight for yourself. Which is it?

I own a gun because I do intend to kill anyone or anything that threatens me or mine, IF I'm given no other choice but to do so.

Reason always first, but if confronted with violence, respond in kind.

I am not saying I would not use a gun to protect me or my loved ones. i am a huntin' girl, I am just saying it sucks we have to live in a world where we feel the need to have a gun for the "what ifs"

Amen!

I wholeheartedly agree!

Unfortunately I've learned that not everyone has the same values, and what you hold dear may always not apply to others.

Yes, it does suck. Sucks even more that "we" as people made it what it is. And "we" are the only ones who can change it, given the chance.

As long as it remains easy to get away with it, and serve little or no time, nothing is going to change.

My vote is to go back to "an eye for an eye" and start putting the time with the crime. But not going to happen with the current group of politicians who just want to give this country away.

But that is a different topic all together.

WRONG

It would happen more often in a society where there were no guns.

If you remove the guns from a society the two groups who will still have them will be the police and the criminals.

The shooter in this case was a criminal, an ex-con at that even.

if there were no gun there would be swords or sticks . if guns are outlawed the criminals will just find another way to intimidate or over power another.

Guns, no guns it really does not matter. If someone wants to kill someone else, then it will happen. Bare handed if need be. Some people are intimidated by guns, some are straight up scared of them. Society as a whole has been trained my the liberal media to hate guns and that guns are the cause of all that is bad in our society.
The truth is, bad things have been going on in our society for centuries. Way before guns were invented. It is human nature to protect what is his/hers.

This is Texas...everyone has a gun
