well depends on the year and model. ussually there is a couple of nuts on some type of stop. you open the locknut, turn the other to adjust, and then lock it again. some bikes have the adjustment built into the cable, there will be a hex nut type of fitting on there somewhere you can turn to do the same thing.

do not tighten the cable so much that there is no freeplay. you should be able to twist the throttle barely (2-3mm) before the throttle is actually opening. if you over tighten it you can throw off the idle, and what not.

if your gonna work on your own stuff i highly recommend a factory service manual.
