chase sucks , my sister is a dance instructor, and she had a student write a frodulent check to her. well they froze her account and seized all her money in the account. she has to hire a lawyer to get her money back from them... since then, our entire family withdrew every account we have with them (including reletives)... lol, they lost a few million dollars in business just by my sister out of a couple hundred bucks.

Ouch! Good thing they are putting it back- hopefully no harm done?

I had my purse stolen two days before Christmas of 2002. There were four checks and my wallet (complete with ID). So thief was able to use checks at WALMART! $1400! I had cancelled the checks immediately AND filed a police report, so the bank was fine, but Walmart refused to cancel the charges against me- still cannot write checks there.

huh, someone tried using my debit card at the Wal-mart in Cypress for a transaction that was near 2K, and they tried contacting me to verify...needless to say I had a new number and they immediately locked down my Debit card...took about a week to get a new one and somewhat ofa nuisance, but definitely worth not having a fraud case

Would have been nice if the idiot at the register actually looked at the picture on my lisence. They actually told me they wouldn't remove the error, even with the police report (which was filed the night before the shopping spree) and a signed afidavit, because it was my lisence number on the check! I tried to explain that the ENTIRE purse was stolen! Unfortunately I was the only one speaking English. She was able to write three of the four checks. The clerk at the last store actually checked the photo and called the number on the check and I told her it was stolen and to get security to grab the ... too late. The other place was a gas station, and they did the right thing as soon as they got the report and afidavit... Walmart!

Yeah, Target is a lot further from me as well... and a lot cleaner, too.

Plus I can't return anything to Walmart without a receipt, because of the ID thing... I really hate them. This last year I tried to fix it again, but they said I would have to pay. money they'll never see because they hire idiots to run the registers.

Very noble of you! Mine was actually taken out of my truck parked in front of my sister's house. I filed the report within 30 minutes of it going missing. Lost my fabulous camera along with two sets of keys! Including the keys to drive the truck!

Sad but a 5.85 an hour all they care about is what time they get their break & what time they get off !!!

Yep. And it really doesn't matter what they do, because they are not held accounable for their actions. I'm sure the thief knew the person at the register, especially for her to be able to write two checks for so much money! If Walmart was more vigilant in hiring, and held clerks responsible, guaranteed it would not have happened...

Or people just lose their minds during the Holidays like TXFerrari said... 'DUH'!

SUX for sure.

I had my debit card number compromised a few months ago right when I was buying a house (scared the chit out of me cause I thought my identity was stolen, ruined credit, etc.) but my bank is Members Choice Credit Union and they were cool and fixed everything immediatly and they took the hit on the fraudulant purchases unfortunately.

Funny this is, all it takes is for someone to get your card number and they can make their own card easily cause I still had my card in my wallet and all these purchases kept popping up in Louisana???

I mean lets face it; when you use your credit/debit card, nobody ever checks for your i.d. do they? I've had it happen like twice in my whole life.

Yep! Haha!

I've had my id checked when using my debit card. I'm glad when they check it, plus my pic is on it. I've had charges before that were fraudulent, mostly online, but I've NEVER had a problem with my bank eating it. They gave it back. B
