What do you guys feel as far as having different tire up front. My front tire looks new and was thinking about only buying a rear one but have heard that the mismatch tread patterns might not be safe?

It really depends on the brand and type of tire.
What do you have on the front?

It is not so much the tread, bu the carcass construction and profile (shape). Two different shapes on either end can essentially fight each other. They will handle poorly and possible wear faster.

ran pilot road on front and pilot 2ct on our 04 gsxr 600. did some commuting, some twisties, and several track days and tires held up great and had great traction!

I've been VERY pleases with my M3. 6k and it's just getting to the wear indicators. Probably not what you're looking for. I'd go with the Pilot Road2CT, nothing but great reviews.

I only use my bike for fun now, so I like a softer tire. If I was still commuting like you're doing, I would already have that tire(PR2CT) on my bike.
