Wear your long johns, will be cold that time of year.

You can stay anywhere on the NW side of San Antonio, or Kerrville, or Bandera.

Google Bandera, then head N on Hwy 16 to 337, then W to Leakey. Make sure and check out Frio Canyon bike shop on 337 W of Leakey. Then N on 335, E on 41, S on 336 back to 81 and Leakey.

Top off in Leakey as there aren't any gas stops around the 335-336 loop

3 Sisters are 335, 336, and 337. There are other good roads around there depending on how long you plan to stay.

If you plan to ride there and back, I have some good backroads to and from Kerrville.

If you still need some info on routes and places to stay, send me a note.

For value, it's hard to be Koyote Ranch cabins just north of Medina. The location is great, but walking to the shower when it's forty degrees is something to remember.

There aren't any bad roads out there, but be ready for some construction. We hit some during an HSTA rally in early November. I believe it was 337 just east of Leakey. A mile or two of gravel. Watch for cattle guards in the corners!!

P.S. The trooper in the minimally marked gray Dodge Ram is not a myth. I picked him up on instant KA trying to get the car in front of me. I was so spooked I slowed down for every pickup I saw on the side of the road. That's a bunch around there.

Enjoy!!
