with the key off hold the button next to the light down.while holding it down turn key on.keep holding the botton for 10 sec. or so.let off button.each time you push after bumps light up 500 rpm.i have mine at 13500.gives a little time to shift.once its where you like it turn key off.sucks that you have to hold botton down to activate the light every time you restart bike.it will save your setting though.

so everytime i turn my bike and the on again it will reset and i will have to do it again for the light to work?

He means that if say you make peak power at 14,000rpms, set it for a little under that, so that by the time you react to the light, you'll be shifting when you actually need to, instead of a little too late.
