By the government? Nature's been taking some serious whacks at it lately.

Before we can give you the green light, give us some idea how you'll judge the stupidity. I mean, would you kill those you encounter, get to know and know to be stupid. . .or would you have a quick Stupid Test that you'd administer on the spot to random folk?

I think we need it, the more people we have, the more energy needed, the less room we have for food, and animals, the more resources we eat up, etc.

Sorry for ^^^. I realized I went grossly OT in the owner's thread.

Well, yes and no. Energy and resources are manageable with the right attitude ( of course, we're talking theory here--I think we've screwed the pooch on this one). I think it's been brought up here that there are a lot of countries where deaths are actually outstripping births. Can't remember where that info is. . .maybe ArturoC has it? People aren't suffering for lack of food; they're suffering for lack of competent management of resources.

If I may ask, why the interest? Did you read or see something that spurred you to question?

I'm all for it. on the other hand we have such a lawsuit happy society i don't think it would ever fly, at least not for long. They should start with those on long term govt. assistance(flame away if you wish, this is my opinion and you all have a right to yours), and go from there. Limit those who can't stand on their own two feet and monitor the rest. We really need better control of the resources we have left, SUV's and 4500 sq.ft. homes aren't helping at all. There are many things we ALL could do to better our current situation. if those are not initiated/implemented i would still support population control, just not until other options have been tried.

I'm going to play devil's advocate, kay? By "afford" what do you mean? There were times my parents could barely afford me or my brothers, but I'm happy & grateful to be alive. A lot of what is considered neccesity for child rearing these days is commercial bullsh#t. Time used to be, the poorer you were, the more kids you needed to help around the homestead. I think I turned out OK.

Our greed and attitudes have to change as well... the whole more is better attitude kills me. That dont fly anymore.

I think if I had an income of say 100,000 a year, Id prolly still have the same house we live in now (88k)

Its more than big enough for us, and we are happy and thankful we can afford to live here.

I'll go a step further. We don't need population control. We need to stop engaging in heroic measures to save every half-dead, wretched, can't fend for itself, pathetic weakling and let nature take its course.

Here's my take on 21st century USA. "Too much of not enough." We're the fools holding onto the gold (plated) bar and sinking to the bottom of the sea. :/:
