Yes, they normally don't test it. They just look to see if u have it, so as long as it's attached ur good

well, some people have been saying that you need a dead mans kill switch, which is basically like what you see on jet ski's ... that way if you fall off your bike, it turns your bike off.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to get said kill switch locally? I was just looking at mine to see if I could rig it somehow with screw and cable, but I would have to go up instead of back for it to be effective.

As for everyone else talking ... I expect to see the 600s get close to if not better times in 1/8th maybe the 1/4 then most big liter bikes. Takes some practice to get a launch down and pulling wheelies not a fun time when you're trying to keep it on the ground.

If you're not strapped w/ a liter plus bike, you're not gonna be full throttle for a while...
And for ordering straps on ebay, probably too late for this weekend...

Another cheap/quick option that is non permanent is you can get a cheap jet ski lanyard or even a life guard type whistle lanyard with a clamp. Then you can use clear silicone and glue one end to the kill switch button the night before the race, it will hold well enough for them to test it, then after you are done, you can pull it off and peel the silicone back off with your finger/finger nail.....no one will ever know it was there...

I am not down for drilling my kill switch either...

... maybe not the most popular idea, but I don't suppose we would actually like to have a (dare I say it) safety/orientation for newbies to this kind of racing... It's not the same as riding on the street, and ego's start appearing real quick as do wrecked bikes...

.. just fwiw...

alot of times you can get away with just hooking the end of the lanyard to your key....

Going out there for the first time can really be "intimidating" and I'm getting the impression we're gonna have a lot of new guys.. (which is great)

As for me:

NHRA - 1983
IHRA - 1985
AHDRA - 2002

Best time on my bike so far...

10.418 .e.t
115.76 mph
.118 RT (not my proudest moment)

But I'm not gonna come close to that without the "squishie" rear (Drag tire).
Still should be fun!! Looking forward to meeting ya'll...

Jeff
