he didnt over shoot the turn.. because he was not turning the entire time, you can see in the video, he drove straight for the opposite lane for a few seconds..

I have so many cop friends and majority of them do say that it is true. Many cops just itch to do something, and when they get called, they just cant control themselves. And at the end the justification is "well, we told him to stop and he didn't, so we ran him off the road'. Everybody pays this way. Why cant they back off and trail him with radios or maybe a chopper, etc? He would run out of gas and they would just ride up and no one would have been harmed. Sometimes I just think some cops are some ignorant and very uneducated school drop outs.
Sad to see.

Honestly it just frightens me. Having had a few run ins with guys that are "less" qualified than their brothers in law enforcement, I just don't want to give them a blank check to go taking out bikes.

Zero tolerance is some modern day bullsh** thought up by old people. Where would you honestly be now if you hadn't made some stupid mistakes in your life & learned from them rather than paying for them with your life.

the way I see it BOTH sides were in the wrong...it was definetly wrong for the bike to flee but it sets a dangerous precedent to cops to start running down bikers for a traffic infraction. remember the DPS officer that pulled directly out in the path a some bikers a few years ago on I-45? Is it worth killing people for a possible speeding ticket...nope. What happens when you guys that screen " he was running...screw him" is riding down the road not paying attentiopn to the mirrors and some cop runs you down because he thought you were evading...it can happen if this becomes the norm.Don't run people...it can cost you more than just jail time.

Good. I doubt he'll face any real consequences though.......trying to take someones life shouldn't be the first or even third option. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAD A F'n passenger

I don't think people are saying that at all. I think what the majority are saying is that there are smart ways of dealing with this. Ramming a bike in the middle of the street should not be one of the first things done. Come on, they never heard of radio? They never heard of blockading a road? No helis (where are they when you need them, right?). They never heard of binoculars to try get his plate #? No cameras to take pictures for later arrest? I am sure there are dozens of things that could be done to bring this to a safer end (other than the one actually seen on footage). Anything to id him and just show up at his doorstep to arrest? I refuse to believe they tried to use their brain at all when making their choices (the cops).

Yes, the rider should be arrested, and yes, he is a moron, but being a moron should not be enough reason to kill them. Trust me, at some point in all of our lives, someone at some point thought we are a moron. I guess that would have been ok for them to kill us? No.

Brains should be used when resolving high stress situation. We are not in Iraq. If one cannot think, one should not wear a badge, or do not join in on the pursuit. Leave it to the pros.

Does not matter what the guy did or was doing, its not the cops decision if the guy lives or dies.

He isn't a kid- probably too late.

Still, not the girl's fault. She's the one who got hurt. He should have gotten hurt, but that's just not the way it works.

Nobody is taking up for the dumba$$ who ran, just saying the cop shouldn't have hit them. He did turn into the guys lane- I'm sure on purpose to make him stop, then when the bike swerved, he did swerve into the bike.

I'd take the motorcyclist's side. It looks like the policeman intentionally rammed the bike. I don't care if the motorcycle rider was running, that doesn't give the policeman the right to potentially kill the biker; much less the passenger. Total bullshit. I suspect that the smooth move from the policeman will cost serious dollars, payable to the rider and his passenger. That was the equivalent of shooting a shoplifter in my book.

Fixed. A bike at high speeds is definatly a deadly weapon.

I FULLY agree with taking out riders that choose to run. My only gripe with this incident is that there was an innocent passenger on the bike.
