Well my son is 6 and has been riding with me for the last 3yrs. I have had him in the front of me, and have not ever gone over 30mph. Now that he is older I have gotten up to about 50mph. He loves to ride with me, I have never really traveled farther then my neighborhood. He has his helmet that his mother got him on all the time. Now that he is old he doesn't mind sitting in the back of the bike now. I am going to invest in one of those straps so he can hold on easier.

This might be a dumb question but can you get a ticket for having your kid on the tank?

You know that is a good question, since I have had him on mine a couple of times.

prolly not on the tank, BUT if no lid, thats against the law, as well as child endangerment.

and if they were a lid, it'll be big, and will get in the way if they are in ft of you.

I WOULD REALLY RECOMMEND YOUR KIDS NOT RIDE ON TANKS.

My 9 year old rides on the back and I've put my 6 year old on back a couple of times. I prefer the 6 year old in front of me though. I never drive over 30mph with them on the bike. They both have DOT helmets.

My daughter is 10 and she wants to go on the LONG rides we take. We bought her all the gear this year. Fitting helmet, boots, jacket. Safety first. We take her around the neighborhood all the time - about 35 to 50mph.

Yes you can. I was pulled over and told that there cannot be anything in front of the motorcycle operator that might interfere with use of the controls or block view of the dash. Also, was told that each person on a motorcycle must have their own seat.

So, I bought a harness from (Sled Pal) and he's been riding behind me ever since. At that time he was 2. We bought his Honda 50 when he was 3. He's now almost 6 and still loves to ride on either bike.

My 3 older kids are all grown, and they all started riding early too.

Of course, I was one of those kids that went barefoot all the time, swam in creeks and ponds, rode in the back of pickups, skateboarded and cycled without a helmet, played full contact sports, sat really close to the television, smoked, drank, and can't count the number of times I've had unprotected cuz I run out of fingers. It's amazing that our family line continues to flourish.
