Riding with your kids

At what age did you let your kids ride on the bike with you. In front of you or back? How far do you think it's appropriate to go?

They can ride as long as they can hold on and understand how to communicate by tapping on you. Kids at 10 and up should be good to ride.

Do you know where I can find them?
I have been leaving my pockets unzipped so she can hold on. I want/need something better!

I wouldn't recommend putting a child up front since they may just launch forward if you hit the brakes a little hard.

I am going to put her on a dirt bike this summer and see how she does. It she likes and does well, I think I will get her a mini and put her out on the MiniGP track out past Katy to ride around.
I don't think I will put her on the bike track at Bryan until she is at least 15 or so.

My son is 9, he hasn't been on my bike at all with me. I'd probably take him around the neighborhood slow or whatever but that's about it. I think he's a little scared of my bike which is probably good........a little scared equals respect for it.

He has his own 50cc 2stroke dirt bike and a 90cc 4wheeler that he rides.....and yes I always put him in full gear when he rides.

I rode with my brother on his '78 GS1000 when I was probably about 6-7 wearing his helmet which of course was WAYY to big....but hey back in the late 70's nobody knew any better about a lot of things.
